Well, the summer has finally wound down to a close for me. I’ve had my bittersweet final days of tutoring and work for the summer. It is a time to look back and be thankful for the amazing experiences I’ve been fortunate enough to have, and also a time to gaze forward into the coming months of my internship. Today is my final day at home, which I spent packing things up for the big move to Davidson tomorrow (but mostly lazing around and trying to enjoy my last true moments of ‘summer’).
Looking back on my summer, it was a hectic one! In July, I was wearing three different hats: MSR at Affinity Credit Union full time, part time waitress at a local restaurant, and tutor for my awesome little student. It was nice to get a chance to do a little bit of everything, but sitting where I am right now, I wish I had taken a little more time to myself to enjoy it. However, this was my last full summer to truly dive into working and making money, so I am glad that I made the most of that aspect of it! And I am happy to announce that next summer will include a lot more vacationing and me-time, as I will be the maid of honour for my high school best friend’s wedding and going on a 2 week Alaskan land tour/cruise with my mom, who will be finished her EA certificate in the spring, when I am done my degree. It will be an exciting summer for me!
It is mind boggling to think that this time next year I will (hopefully) be getting ready to start my first real job as a first-year teacher! As a very organized and meticulously planned person, it is difficult, yet exhilarating, to think that I don’t know where exactly I will be one year from now. No matter what, though, I am ecstatic to find out where this next year takes me, as I continue my journey to becoming a teacher.
The realization that I am moving tomorrow and starting my internship the day after that has still not quite sunk in for me; once I get there, I think things will start to feel real. I have decided to set the goal of posting an update at least once a week during my internship, so stay tuned and buckle up for the crazy adventure I’m sure it will be!
Wish me luck, growth, and lots of energy!
Until next time,
